MUM
Siblings galore being one of nine
You left home, got married, your time to shine
Along came 4 daughters for you and my dad
Holidays in Whitehaven, such fun times we had
You embraced my love of the four legged kind
With Darkie and Sandy the best dogs we could find
Your hobbies of sewing and knitting were fun
Knitting clothes for grandchildren was where it begun
You started as neighbours and then became a friend
Eva and Molly the very best on who you could depend
Jean, a great friend since your teenage years
Many coach holidays together for festivities and good cheers
You thought of others, doing many charity jumble sales
Collecting clothing, pricing items and all it entails
You loved me to colour and style your hair
For me it was another way to show I care
You liked to go out, in the car, shopping with me
For grocery, for clothes or for presents for under the Christmas tree
A milky coffee was the drink of your choice
Drank from fine bone china, only the best for my mum, Joyce!
Your latter years were spent in the care of others
They may not have been family but loved you like their mothers
I will always remember your eyes light up and your smile grow
Each time I came to see you your happiness would show
You would pretend you didn’t know me and give a wink
Your sense of humour one of your best qualities I think
These are the memories and more, Mum, I’ll love and hold dear
And keep in my heart until next time we are near
Night night, God bless
Love you always
